Samaj Seva Bharti Paschimbanga organized a workshop on mental health Seva today from 10 am to 4 pm at its Kudghat office. Eminent psychologist Professor Dr. Rajesh Kumar Saha and renowned physician Dr. Arvind Brahma Mahashay were present in the said workshop. The workshop is divided into five Session: Psychosocial Crisis in the 21st Century, Mental Health, Role of the Mental Health-Service Worker, Approaches to Solving Mental Health Problems and Question and Answer Session.
Speakers noted that everyone must come forward to protect society from the rapid decline of mental health. Due to lack of adequate Counsellor and psychiatrists and negative perception in the society, incidents like suicide attempts and suicides are increasing day by day in India.In addition, various mental diseases are present in almost every household in the society. To overcome this, society needs adequate service workers to provide responsible and trained mental health services. Speakers expressed interest in bringing Samaj Seva Bharti Paschimbanga forward.
After the workshop, Samaj Seva Bharti Paschimbanga formed Kolkata Mahanagar Tolly for free counselling. The members of this team will provide free counseling services in Kolkata Metropolis.
